I just returned from a quick weekend trip to south Florida. My main objective for going was to see the Smooth-billed Ani before the accessible pair at the airport disappears. I arrived at the airport at 3 PM Saturday. 5 minutes after picking up my rental car, I drove down the perimeter road and there was an ani perched on the fence. I drove to a place to turn around and then came back for another view. This time there were 2 Smooth-billed Anis on the fence. Outstanding views of this great bird. They were by the sign #H440 which is about 0.8 miles east of 43rd Street.

My rapid success allowed me to run down to Kendall (one bulbul) and then onto the Govt. Center in Marathon where I had a few pairs of Roseate Terns. On Sunday morning I checked the area near the tennis courts in Kendall and had 2 Spot-breasted Orioles and another bulbul. The Baptist Hospital had 12-14 White-winged Parakeets and along 87th Street I had 4 more bulbuls and another oriole. It was a great, quick trip with 5 lifers and my long awaited view of the anis.

Thank you to all who were so helpful and responded to my inquiries for help. This is a great board!
