While heading north on the Palmetto Expressway from The Falls area to celebrate my step-brothers graduation dinner, I spotted a Smooth-billed Ani sunning itself (even though the sun was blocked by layers of rain clouds) from the top of a tree on the east side of the Palmetto Expressway. The bird was in between the northbound side of the expressway and the residential area to the east of the bird. I scrambled for a note pad and pen after seeing the bird to jot down the location of the bird, but was not able to find either. I am fairly sure that this the closest exit Miller Drive (I think one exit south of the Bird Road exit). Hopefully someone in the area will drive that area and come across an ani.

Other sightings today:
Bar-headed Goose- near intersection of Killian Parkway and US-1 in a pond surrounded by limestone
Scaly-headed Parrot- one surprise at the UM Campus
Mitred Parakeet- a couple birds flying over Sonny's BBQ in South Miami/Kendall
Red-masked Parakeets- with Mitreds and also on UM campus
White-winged Parakeet- two in The Falls, south of Killian Parkway
Gray Kingbird- everywhere along US-1 in South Miaim and Pinecrest
Hill Myna- at UM Campus
Common Myna- thick as starlings in The Falls and Pinecrest area on US-1

The ani is a county bird for me and the Scaly-headed Parrot was another exotic life bird
