After failing to relocate the Bananaquit at Cape Florida between 12:10 and 4:00 pm, I searched areas around Miami Shores for the presumably declining White-winged Parakeets that I've kept tabs on for the past ten years or so.
After cruising some of Miami's seedier neighborhoods west of I-95, I found a group of at least fifteen preening in royal palms somewhat quietly. I moved onwards to other former or current roost sites for the birds, and waited until a total of 42 Brotogeris parakeets flew in in two different flocks. All that were identified were White-winged, but there are usually several Yellow-chevroned in these flocks, as well.
