Dear Florida birders,
I imagine many of you went out in boats to see the remarkable incursion of razorbills. I wonder if any were seen in Bahama waters. Many Florida birders forget that Bahama waters start only 25 miles off the Florida coast - halfway to the island of Bimini. The Bahamas and the USA claim Exclusive Economic Zones extending 200 miles or half way to the nearest country. Obviously it is the second provision that applies to the determination of Florida and Bahama waters. If you saw razorbills 25 or more miles out from the Florida coast, I would like to hear about it. The Bahamas has no record of Razorbill. In fact it has only one alcid record - a dovekie collected off Grand Bahama. Please review your sightings and let me know of any which may have been in Bahama waters.
Happy New Year,
Tony White
