Yes to first two. I've heard that high tide is almost a must for Flamingoes, and that a canoe is the best way to experience this area. As for mosquitoes, I had only a short-sleeve shirt and a cap, and long pants of course, and didn't get bitten. However, I used repellant both on my clothes and exposed areas. The mosquitoes were only a nuisance on the way out, and they just seemed to swarm while we walked and not biting. The recent rains may make things worse, though, so any extra steps for mosquitoes are highly recommended. Canoeing will be one way to avoid them I guess. And finally, tell the person at the Visitor's Center to include me in the "crazy for going down there" list! Best of luck. If you see Flamingoes, please let me know. I still need to see these myself. (the two I saw fly over the Turnpike two weeks ago don't count)
