Crandon Beach

I birded Crandon Beach and Crandon Gardens for about two hours this morning. Crandon Beach had five species of plovers: Black-bellied, Semipalmated, Piping, Wilson's, and Killdeer, plus Least and Western Sandpipers, Sanderling, Ruddy Turnstone and Dunlin. There were four species of gull: Bonaparte's, Lesser Black-backed, Ring-billed, and Laughing, plus Royal Tern. A Reddish Egret was foraging along the shoreline. I found a Purple Gallinule in one of the ponds at nearby Crandon Gardens.
