as usual, great photos. As you may now know, Antillean and Common Nighthawks are not easily distinguishable unless they call. This bird (by the way, it's a female) may be a good candidate and I'll probably be on the lookout for it later this week.
I would also like to say that I did go by the fields on Sunday (after Paul and before you) and spotted TWO breeding White-rumped Sandpipers in and around the puddles of that east field. A drive by Mowry (west of Speedway Blvd), where Paul also went, produced not only Shiny, but BRONZED and Brown-headed Cowbirds! Trifecta! I only saw one Shiny, and at the moment, it stumped me. Then I saw Lyn Atherton's Ft. DeSoto posting of her Shiny Cowbirds and I realized I saw a "worn" individual just like the one she photographed. Paul is this what you saw? A THIRD White-rumped Sandpiper was also in the area, west of the CAT. I called a couple of people but didn't get to post it immediately and then I got sidetracked. Apologies.
