A 30-minute seawatch from 7:40-8:10 yielded 73 Common Loons, 2 young Northern Gannets and a smaller loon. Despite the heavy E breeze, the birds stayed mid-distance, with only a few flying close to shore. At 7:55 I watched 2 loons flying with a young gannet. One of the loons (trailing bird) was smaller and more delicate, with less contrasty black-and-white and more white. It seems to be a good candidate for Red-throated Loon but without as much experience with flying Red-throated Loons as with those on the water, I'll leave it as a probable. I took a few seconds to observe the wing beats of all three birds and they ranged from loping (gannet) to quick (Common Loon) to furious (smaller loon). Yesterday before 7 AM, an all-dark Pomarine Jaeger flew very close to shore but I didn't see any jaegers today, nor many frigatebirds.
