I was visiting South Florida from Georgia on 5/26 and saw a thrush (all gray back and tail, partial white eye ring) that I am quite sure was the gray cheeked (could be Bicknell's maybe?) at the Key Largo Hammocks State Botanical Site. This seemed like a very late date for a migrant thrush. Are they often seen this late? I also had a brief look, directly from the rear, of a cuckoo near the same site, actually in the woods adjacent to Power Pole 30 near the Ocean Reef Club a few miles north along 905. (I had a backcountry permit to bird there.) Because I did not see well the face or the underside, I cannot determine if it was the mangrove cuckoo or perhaps, the yellow-billed. Could anyone tell me if there are any yellow-billed cuckoos at this site, or are all of the cuckoos in the area mangroves? The mangrove would be a life bird for me, so I would appreciate any input. Thanks!
