I wanted to share some highlights from Biscayne National Park's 2012 Christmas bird count. Out of the 58 species counted, the top two most abundant species in the park were the Double Crested Cormorant (1,250), and Laughing Gull (784). Some notable sightings include a Forster's Tern and Caspian Tern on the Convoy Point jetty and 4 Common Loons in Biscayne Bay. Last but not least, Kara's boat braved the rough seas and saw 8 Brown Boobies and one Magnificent Frigatebird on Pacific Light. Thanks again to everyone who partisipated in the event and I am looking forward to seeing you next year!
