An American Golden-Plover was on Crandon Beach flats (south end) today. It flew to the next flat and obligingly showed its dark rump. These are usually fall migrants here on Key Biscayne, so it was a treat. Until ~10 days ago, the breeding-plumaged Sanderlings, Ruddy Turnstones and Black-bellied Plovers were gorgeous. Shorebirds in nonbreeding plumage have now replaced the snappy dressers.
