Today, I went scouting around the northeastern part of the Kendall CBC circle (aka Team 'Barnes'). Here are the highlights at each location.
A.D. Barnes Park:
Short-tailed Hawk (dark morph, soaring over pinelands)
Peregrine Falcon (perched on the tower)
Downy Woodpecker (extreme northeast corner of park)
Yellow-throated Vireo (homeless hammock)
Blue-headed Vireo (2)
Hermit Thrush (trail between nature center and school)
Orange-crowned Warbler (3)
Black-throated Blue Warbler (5; 1 m and 4 f)
American Redstart (2)
Summer Tanager (old 'rooster' area)
Brewer's Park:
Wood Stork (soaring overhead in kettle of vultures)
Merrie Christmas Park:
Wilson's Warbler (male, found in a large feeding flock in the eastern part of the park where there are strangler fig trees with lots of ripe fruit)
Dante B. Fascell Park:
Black-throated Green Warbler (stunning male nestled within a large feeding flock in the center of the park)
