Hi everyone. Thanks to the wonderful TAS birdboard everytime I'm in Miami I find something excitring for my US list and this one was a great surprise as I thought I'd need to go to Boston for Razorbill.
So I was a Government Cut jetty at 8.30 for about 25 minutes but without a scope as I didn't bring one from home (UK) Nevertheless I saw a flock of about 25 tiny black dots fly past heading south, a few other single or pairs and finally one close enough to shore for me to be certain it was a dumpy black auk.
I also saw a Royal Tern, 5 Black Scoter heading south and a lovely female Red-breasted Merganser fishing in the cut almost opposite the point where Ocean Drive ends.
Thanks for all your postings. Visitors like me find them really helpful.
Happy Holidays
and a great new Year full of more surprises
Graham UK birder.
