I had some reservations about chasing a bird that could be many miles away by the time I got there, but luckily it wasn't! I got there at 2:00 to learn it was seen around noon. There were a dozen birders there, and after over an hour of looking we spotted a tiny black head out at the edge of the deep water. It was seen on and off for a short while, then after no one had seen it
for some time, Trey yells out "there it goes" as it flew less than 100 feet off the jetty heading north. I managed to snap off a few bad shots (one attached). It landed just off the surf a few hundred yards to the north where we got distant but decent scope views. Last we saw it was heading back to deeper water. There are large schools of bait from near shore out to the
edge, so maybe it like the feeding here. What a fitting bird to hit #400 for my Florida list!
