It was great meeting Trey, Andreas, and Drew Fulton at the Thick-billed site. As indicated, no dice in the pm. No La Sagra's earlier either. As Bryant posted, the trucks, noise, and asphalt probably kept the bird away. Still fun to see Bryant and to meet Ruth, a birder from New York State who had been there all day except for the time she spent with the Thick-billed Vireo early am. (Yep, the circle).
I decided against spending the night in Fort Lauderdale and am typing away at Midnight in Fort Myers. Good luck to all who try for the two tomorrow!

: I made an attempt to see and photograph the La Sagra's Flycatcher and Thick Billed Vireo this afternoon.
:
: I arrived at Ann Kolb at about 4:30pm and looked around the parking lot for the Thick billed for about 30-40 minutes without seeing it. I then went to look for the La Sagra's at Hugh Taylor Birch. I arrived there about 6pm to find that the road was closed because they were re-topping the North parking lot.
:
: I started the walk to the fork in the road where the flycatcher had been seen, when a park ranger offer me a ride to the location. When I arrived there were 6 other birders there looking for the flycatcher. Two of them had been there earlier in the day and had heard the flycatcher, but they were run off because they were past some orange cones blocking the road to that area.
:
: Apparently now they were allowing birders to walk into the area.
:
: So we were all encouraged to stay and look for a while. I stayed looking and listening till almost 7pm. All I saw were a couple of Red Starts. I decided to head back to Ann Kolb to look for the Thick billed Vireo since several of the birders had been there during the morning hours and they were successful at locating the bird.
:
: I made it back to Ann Kolb at 7:25 and saw several birders there waiting to see the Thick Billed Vireo. Once again I was out of luck and they hadn't seen or heard the Vireo. They had been there since around 5:45.
:
: Marie Gonsalo said that she would probably try again in the morning for the Thick Billed Vireo and would post if successful.
:
: Oh well, maybe next time. But the birding was a lot better that fighting the traffic if I would have just headed home after my meeting.

: BTW: At Bill Sadowski's Park early this morning I saw a Yellow Billed Cuckoo, a couple of BT Blue females and a White Crowned
: Pigeon. I hadn't seen them at this park before today.
