I just got back from Ft. DeSoto - there is a female Kirtland's Warbler that was having the time of her life feeding on the Sea Grapes.

Here is an extremely well written post from Margie Wilkinson that sums it all up!

Going for the Kirtland's Warbler? Please park across the road from the entrance to Arrowhead in the parking lot and walk over, as the rangers ask that cars not be parked close to the bicycle path.

The warbler is mostly being seen in the "dunes area". Walk down the entrance road a short distance and on the left (but somewhat back from the road) is a sandy area and a low chain. This is across from the first nice group of oaks on the right which we often find productive for migrants - many of you know that spot. Cross over the chain and follow the main path around - you'll begin to see sea grapes and other low bushes on the left. The Kirtland's is regularly in the seagrape.

This is a very cooperative bird and of course shows the constant tail wagging. A huge thanks to John Hintermister for finding it and getting out the word, to Jill for re-finding it later, and to Lyn and all others who were keeping watch on its whereabouts all day and helping all newcomers. On a personal note if you will allow me, no more fretting about when can I get to Michigan?
