The La Sagra's Flycatcher was showing well between 6-7pm at Birch State Park on Monday 9th allowing excellent views. Although it was inactive for 15-20 minutes at a time, it would eventually start feeding and calling for short periods. On this occasion it was located on the north side of the service road posted 'staff only' at the north end of the park just before the sharp bend in the road. This is actually an entrance into the park for local residents. Video footage of it preening and a recording of the call were obtained. Evening certainly seems to be a good time to look for this bird when perhaps it is more vocal and easier to locate. The park closes at 7.45pm.

Good luck,
