At around 8:00 AM this morning, Toe called me to say he had spotted a LaSagra's Flycatcher at the intersection of Old Cutler Rd and SW 168th St, right next to the Deering Estate. Toe saw the bird fly from the west across Old Cutler Rd and perch on a Woman's Tongue tree next to the back parking lot of the Marathon gas station. He had great views of the bird and although it did not call he said it matched Colin's photos of the LaSagra's at Birch. Toe had to take his daughter to school but then returned to the spot to try to relocate the bird. Helder Balladares of the Deering Estate joined him in the search and said he has been hearing a bird call every day for about a week that "sounds like a Great Crested but not quite". He said the bird has been calling between four and five o'clock in the afternoon in the area across form the Deering Estate entrance, where 168th St ends, but didn't follow up on it. Shame on you Helder. Anyways, there's time for redemption! He's going to be on the lookout for the bird today and if anyone else has the time, I believe this is worth following up...I mean it! I'll be on location after four (I didn't see it this morning) and probably so will Toe.

Cheers and good birding,
RJ
