The Western Spindalis was very cooperative late this morning in its usual territory. She put on a show for Patty O'Neill, who made a special trip from Boston for this bird. The spindalis worked the Casuarinas between Larry's original flagging and farther west about 40-50 yards. She then spent some time in a Schinus on the south side of the path. She's not a picky eater -- we watched her trying to eat a tree snail, several caterpillars and Schinus berries.
There were 2 American Robins in the area southwest of the biking trails. The dark-morph Short-tailed Hawk stayed right over the area and a Sharp-shinned and two Broad-winged Hawks were along Arthur Lamb, Jr. and Sewage Roads.
