I birded the C-357 Sparrow Fields on Saturday, coming up with only a handful of sparrows but thankfully some good ones, including an immature White-crowned Sparrow, Lincoln's Sparrow, and Swamp Sparrow. Other notable birds included the silent Tropical/Couch's Kingbird at the pump station, White-tailed Kite, and Wilson's Snipe.

The Chekika Unit of Everglades National Park continues to be very birdy, with large numbers of waders all along the road, including multiple Wood Storks, Black-crowned Night-Herons, and a Roseate Spoonbill. Northern Harrier and Snail Kite were patrolling the sawgrass fields, viewable from the southern terminus of the road. Saturday was the first day that the Chekika picnic area opens up. Although I was a little late, there were some good birds about, including a convenient Marsh Wren right at the edge of the parking lot, Ruby-crowned Kinglet, Chuck-will's-widow, and a mystery vireo.
