Decided to go to Loop Road for a 'quick' drive - seven hour later and a few choice words directed to those flying through - I had managed to spot a good number of birds, including those easy for me to identify: black and white warbler, blue and gray gnatcatchera, downy woodpecker and a very inquisitive fox squirrel.

I have a lot to learn and my respect for those of you who can identify a bird by the mere sound grows by leaps and bounds with each chirp I hear.
