Bill and I went up in search of two target birds today, the Snow Bunting and Red-breasted Nuthatch. We arrived at parking lot 8 at Canaveral National Seashore and waited for the Snow Bunting to appear. And we waited and waited. By 12:00, after many birders had come and gone, there was no sign of the Bunting so we left in search of Red-breasted Nuthatches. There haven't been any recent reports but we checked out the spots anyway. Nothing! At 2:00 we were in Titusvilled pumping gas for the ride home when we get a call form Joyce Stefanic saying the Bunting had just been see. We headed over and found in at parking lot 8 right in the open. A very cooperative bird. It wasn't there all morning, so it must be using another area nearby. Now to find those nuthatches closer to home.
