The North American Spring Migration Count takes place on Saturday, May 14. Though migration is all but over in south Florida by this date, there may still be a few stragglers around. The count is not restricted to migrants, though, but should include all birds seen, even Eurasian Collared Doves and other ubiquitous species.

If you are capable of finding and identifying birds and would like to participate, let me know before the 14th which area you'd like to cover. I'm responsible for finding coverage for all of Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties (including the Dry Tortugas!) You may also count only in your backyard or neighborhood. Remember, every bird counts! To ensure that there is no overlap of coverage areas, I'll let you know whether or not other birders have already volunteered to cover the area you have chosen.

A final option (staying at home on count day is NOT an option) is to join Joe Barros as he counts birds while leading the TAS carpool birding trip to Key Largo. See the TAS calendar for details.

Looking forward to hearing from you.
