Keep in mind that the Tropical Kingbird has been hanging around two Western Kingbirds. Your photo of a "Tropical Kingbird" and its meal, although not a good ID photo, appears to be a Western Kingbird instead. The bird in a subsequent photo (with its mouth open) is a typical Western Kingbird. The third bird is indeed a Tropical Kingbird (note the yellow color goes all the way up to its throat, unlike the Western's yellow which ends further below). At this point we know it is a Tropical (and not the very similar Couch's Kingbird) because Larry Manfredi recorded its call. So far there have been two separate reports of Tropical Kingbird (both by Larry) in the general area, yet a few miles apart.
