Went out this morning at 7 am to survey the shorebirds out on the beach. There has been a definite increase in numbers over the last couple weeks - especially after Hurricane Sandy.
Double-Crested Cormorant
Laughing Gull
Turkey Vulture
Lesser Black-backed Gull
Boat-tailed Grakle
Fish Crow
Black-bellied Plover
Piping Plover - 40! Highest count this fall
Semipalmated Plover - 55 were in the protected bird site
Wilson's Plover
Least Sandpiper
Black Skimmer - single bird skimming south to north
Dunlin
Sanerling
Royal Tern
Ruddy Turnstone
Short-billed Dowitcher
