It is time to start preparations for the 2012 KENDALL CHRISTMAS BIRD COUNT, scheduled for SATURDAY, DECEMBER 22nd . Starting this year, National Audubon has eliminated the participant fee, so there is no impediment to anyone to join the fun!
Volunteers are needed to help survey the count area, which runs roughly from Bird Road south to Black Point, and from the Bay over to SW 142nd Avenue. This includes Coral Gables, Pinecrest, Cutler Bay, and large parts of Kendall. Parks in the area include AD Barnes, Tropical Park, Matheson/Fairchild, the Deering Estate, Larry & Penny Thompson Park, ZooMiami, and Black Point.
We can also use feeder and yard/neighborhood watchers; so even if you are a stay-at-home birder, you can contribute to the effort!
