Yesterday, birds were literally all over Cape Florida State Park. An hour's walk in the late afternoon produced 14 warbler species and multiple yellow-billed cuckoos. Blackpolls, American redstarts and common yellowthroats appeared the most numerous, followed by black-throated blue and black-and-white warblers. Also seen were palm warblers, ovenbirds, northern waterthrush, prairie warblers, northern parulas, Cape May and worm-eating warblers. The best sightings were a Swainson's warbler and a male hooded warbler.
Today (Tuesday), there are still warblers around, though not in the numbers seen yesterday.
