While the congregation prayed in the church (Mary Help of Christians) I patroled the Hammock and witnessed a red-shouldered hawk make a successful kill on a mourning dove, a Cooper's Hawk sit and preen for thirty minutes, a river otter make an unsuccessful attempt to catch a mottled duck from a flock of about 55, and watched a painted bunting feed at one of the feeders (the first recorded view this season), and enjoyed the ruby-throated hummer at the hamelia patens.
There is a point or two to ponder in all that----one is "bring your camera dummy!"
