Did a shorebird survey today between 11:45-12:30pm. Peak high tide was at 12:26 today which made for an easy count. I started at life guard tower #1 (Crandon Park North Beach) and went down to tower #13 (Crandon Park South Beach).

Laughing Gull
Sanderling
Reddish Egret
Double-crested Cormorant
Osprey
Royal Tern
Lesser Black-backed Gull
Dunlin
Semipalmted Plover
Wilson's Plover
Piping Plover - 38! Highest count I've had this fall
Ruddy Turnstone
Least Sandpiper

After work I went over to STA-1E to try for the Cinnamon Teal seen yesterday. When I got to the impoundment I went right (west) on the dirt road from the parking lot then followed the curve (to the left) and continued walking (south). I scoped over a large raft of ducks that included Redheads, Ruddy Ducks, Hooded Mergansers, Ringneck Ducks and Blue-winged Teals. Unfortunately no Cinnamon Teal :/
Also, I came across 3 Wilson's Snipe and a single Sora. It would be best to attempt tracking the bird down using a bicycle. The treatment area is vast and not easy to cover on foot... or you can just wait for the next caravan trip.
