Andy: If you're going to be in south Dade, you can find burrowing owls at Tamiami Airport. The entrance is located at S.W. 137th Ave. and S.W. 128th St. Turn in to the airport and drive the roads through the grassy fields slowly, looking for their mounds (some of them are marked with traffic cones). You should find an owl or two about midway into the airport, especially in the areas between the north and south perimeter roads. A scope would be useful, but is not necessary.

: I will be visiting the Miami area from New York next week with my family, which includes twin eight-year-olds, one of whom really likes owls. Am particularly interested in burrowing owls, since we don't have them up here, and would appreciate directions to any good areas for seeing them.
