I had a couple of interesting sightings while surveying the remnants of No.Fort Lauderdale beach (vicinity of The Palms Condo)this afternoon. There was a flock of ~12 Cliff Swallows hawking insects in the lee of the buildings right over the beach.
MANY Turkey Vultures !!
3 Peregrine Falcons (adult and 2 juvies) flying around and roosting on The Palms. They've been around for 2wks.
The water on A1A so.of NE17th st. is 2-3 ft deep all the way across the rd. for at least 5 or 6 blocks ,remnants of the last few high tides. Knee deep on west sidewalk.Capstones from beachwall next to east sidewalk are on west shoulder of rd.Top of beach showers protrude ~3ft from sand from overwash ,not from impromptu bulldozing of 6ft "protective " berm.Areas of Seagrapes and Sea-Oats fared firly well. WOW ...
Good Luck to those folks in the Northeast.
Good Birding
