Rouen Ducks, like many other ducks, are domesticated Mallard Ducks. They are in fact genetically Mallards, but have been selectively bred to express different traits.

I should add that domestic Mallards especially compete with the native Mottled Duck, even "drowning out" Mottled Duck genes with theirs. Free-ranging Mallards in Florida are almost always always of domesticated origin, and have a negative influence on our native ducks.

Wild Mallards do occur in the state, but most often between November and February at sites in the Panhandle such as St. Mark's NWR.
