And now you know why I was unsure. Could have been something else, what I have no idea. I got a 3-5 second glimpse as it left the top of an oak for the hammock. Not a cardinal, I can I'd one of those from a description by Stevie Wonder.
Size was smaller than a blue jay, wings dark, bottom of body bright red flash that caught my attention. Who knows, thought at the time it was a tanager. Probably was.
