I've enjoyed a lot of birding in South Florida and still like to read the TAS board regularly. There are a lot of identification questions posted here, so I thought my new ABA blog entry would be relevant. In it, I ask about the nature of bird expertise and how we know we are right and which people to trust when we need help. For example, we would all go to Larry Manfredi with an ID question: why is that? Isn't he wrong sometimes? Aren't we all? Take a look, and I would love to hear comments (either posted to the blog or emailed to me directly, as I don't think this is necessarily a discussion for the TAS board). Thanks for looking.
