Certainly not as exciting as the South American Ringed neck Teal, but today, five days earlier than last year the first male painted bunting arrived at the feeder. I am reasonable sure no one released it here and that it is wild. And in its beautiful simplicity, hopefully it will stay around and become friends with the catbird, brown thrasher, cardinal,and...and draw in another ten or so buntings.
