Sharon Patterson called me this morning to say she d spotted a Western Spindalis out at the Key West Botanical Gardens. I went out, met her, and saw the bird.
This bird is green backed, but I don t think it is the same as the Indigenous Park bird, which hasn t been seen in over two weeks. The green is not as rich, a yellow green as opposed to an olive green. The bird was pretty high and active, so I spent most of my time and effort just trying to get a look at its back.
It was way back off the beaten path in the park, near the water towers. There we a kajillion warblers and other passerines, too.
Just wanted to get the word out.
