In the newest ABA _Birding_ magazine, two Miami-Dade County birders are given nice recognition. In a discussion of Taxonomy vs. Birding, Steve Siegel's previous letter was noted: "Steven Siegel ... strikes a more reasoned tone."
As local birders already know, when there is a bird taxonomic question, go ask John Boyd! John's website is recognized by the author: "... two good online resources for background information on bird taxonomy and new and upcoming changes: John Boyd's Taxonomy in Flux ... these resources make learning about taxonomic changes easy."
