Passerine migration was relatively more subdued at Matheson Hammock this morning, although there was a notable influx of White-eyed Vireos -- the most abundant migrant in the park other than Blue-gray Gnatcatcher. As the day heated up, periodically watching the sky turned up many great raptors flying on their way south -- one unusual kettle had a Peregrine Falcon, an Anhinga, and a Black Vulture. In addition, the Bell's Vireo continues in the same area seen last weekend, on the west side of the park where the service road opens up to the dog park.

Here is the migrant tally:

Osprey
Cooper's Hawk: 2
Broad-winged Hawk: 2
Merlin
Peregrine Falcon
Ruby-throated Hummingbird: 3
BELL'S VIREO
White-eyed Vireo: 10
Yellow-throated Vireo: 3
Red-eyed Vireo: 5
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher: 16

A flock of 16 Yellow-chevroned Parakeets flew overhead and a small flock (3 seen well, one photographed) of Nutmeg Mannikins by the "dog" pond in the west side of the park.
