Yesterday and today I saw a possible first winter female Golden-winged Warbler in the Butterfly Garden at Fairchild Botanical Gardens. The bird is quite skittish. It moves quickly if it sees you and stays fairly low, at about four feet high in the shrubs. It's shape, size and bill match with the Golden- winged. The face is a rather plain gray which seems unusual. The bright lemon wing panel is an exact match. I looked at some pictures on the hybrids also. Maybe if anyone is out that way they could check it out. The bright lemon wing panel was what really stood out.
