I live 2 minutes from Sadowski, less if I push it. But, I have done very little birding there. About 3 weeks ago, I spent about an hour and had 8 warbler species, including the FOY Blackpoll. The last time I was there (last Wednesday I think) there was nothing except for a Chuck-will's-widow that I think spends the summer there. It's been around for almost a month now. I plan to check out Sadowski at least once a week during April. From what little I know, it has some potential during migration. It's just a matter of being there on a day when the birds drop. Deering Estate is probably another good spot. The walking trail along the old 72 Avenue has produced some stuff for me during migration, and goes through hammock and pineland. I usually park on 152nd and 72 Avenue and just walk south. Again, it all depends on 1) the birds moving through, and 2) favorable (to us) weather conditions that cause them to drop to the first wooded spot they find. If you want to travel a little further, A.D. Barnes is about as good as it gets in Dade county, with Matheson Hammock also being very good for migration. I hope this helps. I you don't mind some company, let me know when you're going to Sadowski and I'll try to stop by. I can usually go for a short while early on Wed, Fri, and Sat or Sunday. Enjoy!
