Seven hardy birders joined Jake Tucker and yours truly in a very soaked walk to Miami-Dade College Environmental Center from 7:30 to 9:20 AM. The rain never let up, lighting was not good and wet binoculars did not help but we managed to see 9 warbler species and a few other goodies. We didn't make it to Kendall Indian Hammocks Park. The following were seen:
Cattle Egret
Merlin
Collared Dove
Ruby-throated Hummingbird (At least that is what is most probable as lighting was not good. Someone suggested Lucifer Hummingbird as a possibility :))
Gray Kingbird (seen by me as I was leaving MDC)
Red-eyed Vireo
Blue Jay
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher
Gray-cheeked Thrush
Brown Thrasher
N. Mockingbird
N. Parula
Black-throated Blue Warbler (males and females)
Prairie Warbler
Yellow-throated Warbler
American Redstart (males and females)
Worm-eating Warbler
Ovenbird
N. Waterthrush
Common Yellowthroat (female)
N. Cardinal
Common Grackle
Boat-tailed Grackle
Spot-breasted Oriole
