Had the opportunity to bird southern Miami-Dade County today. It was pretty productive and I ended with 45 species. I started at Black Point Marina where highlights include Prothonotary Warbler and Mangrove Cuckoo. I then went to Dump Marsh and picked up Northern Harrier, Cooper's Hawk, Red-shouldered Hawk, Osprey and Bald Eagle. Cutler Wetlands had a some Blue-winged Teals, Solitary Sandpipers and a Greater Yellowlegs. I ended the day at Castellow Hammock where I found 3 Ruby-throated Hummingbirds and the Rufous Hummingbird! Not a bad way to end the day...
