About twenty migrant seeking birders found their way to Matheson Hammock County Park today for the first TAS spring migration walk of the year. At 7:30, we walked the path south to Fairchild, then walked across Old Cutler Road to the trail heading west. Only a couple Prairies, two Worm-eating, two Black-and-whites, two Common Yellowthroats, one Orange-crowned, and one Black-throated Green made up our warbler count. Hundreds of Cedar Waxwings stormed overhead at all times. Many Hill Mynas, two White-fronted and a couple Orange-winged Parrots, and Red-masked and Yellow-chevroned Parakeets were seen by the group. A couple of us saw two Blue-and-yellow Macaws. Three Pied-billed Grebes, Swallow-tailed Kite, Red-shouldered and Sharp-shinned Hawk, two Pileated Woodpeckers, and both bunting species were seen as well. Only 37 species were seen by my count.

John Boyd also found the Buff-bellied Hummingbird at Fairchild after the walk.
