Well I can't say if more prothonotary warblers will be in the Green Cay wetlands, but for the previous 3 weeks or so one has been spotted in the chickee hut area quite consistently, along with most of the other migrating birds in the same spot. Apparently the cooper's hawk we've been seeing swooping in on occasion also realized that the warblers were thick in that spot, and this Saturday I went to that active area to find it completely quiet and abandoned. Except for the cooper's hawk, who was sitting back in the trees eating something. Something quite yellow...best I could tell through the branches, it appeared the cooper's hawk was eating the prothonotary warbler.

A few of the migrators were still around - a little farther east in the chickee hut area, I still saw worm-eating warblers and a lone redstart. In the cypress tree canopy area, I still saw some prairie warblers...though a trio of red-shouldered hawks flew into that canopy and spooked everything. The raptors are quite active now.
