My husband often walks the path just before sunset. He told me this morning that he saw an unusual small bird last evening. He called it a "North Pole Warbler." He said it had frost on the outer edges of both wings and a blue bill, so he's pretty sure it is migratory.
Seriously, I want to thank both Judd and Trey for their information -- and especially for the eBird checklist and link. We are beginners at learning neighborhood birds & live directly west of PBVC. In addition to several birds on the list, we have seen the following in our back yard in the past year: mangrove cuckoo (1X), spot-breasted oriole (several X), grackles (occasional), brown thrasher (2x) and ruby-throated hummingbirds (many X & they often hang around for several months).
