Thanks, Paul for leading a great trip! Good fun and good birds were had by all.
After the group parted ways, I returned to the sod fields at 6mi bend, determined to find an Upland Sandpiper that had been seen there a couple hours earlier. While scoping the distant field I spotted one atop the limerock levee separating the two fields. I drove down and parked closer, parallel to the levee. From that vantage point I was able to see 3 Upland Sandpipers in the grass on the east side of the levee.
Two lifers and one new Fl bird were certainly worthy of a celebratory libation. I thought a Sam Adams Octoberfest was well suited to match the fall shorebird migration. Cheers!
