Hey everyone, this morning as I was getting into school I checked the owl burrows as usual, since they are right by the far parking lot, and lo and behold, there were four owls out! Two are clearly distinguishable as juveniles, but they are older, probably fledglings by now, and they looked just beautiful. I did not try to approach, so I'm not sure how they are with people just yet, but you can get a great look at them from not too far off with a pair of binoculars. For anyone who remembers, I believe this is the same pair as from last year that hatched 5 hopping baby burrowing owls. There maybe more than two young, but that is what I saw. They are located on the campus of Barry University, across the street west of the soccer fields. The burrow is in a grassy field next to the commuter parking lot there, where the old greyhound track used to be, the burrow is marked off by logs and not far from the street. If anyone goes to check them out, let me know if you see more than two babies!
