1 immature Sooty @ Pompano Beach Pier, 8-28-12. Seen as close as 40 feet, @ noon, from shaded beach under pier. Flying N of pier: in circles above beach (from dunes to water) & above Ocean. Gradually fluctuating in altitude between 200 ft & 5 ft up. Last seen as a speck flying NE over the Ocean. Use Library parking lot. (Beach RD is closed.) Entire bird is black, except: pale underside of wings; white undertail coverts; gradually transitioning from white to black near legs. Long narrow black bill. Many pics taken.
