I found this Roseate Tern today on the north side of Rickenbacker Causeway on the onramp just west of the area where people fish underneath the bridge at the end of Hobie Beach. There were tons of shorebirds around up and down the causeway on the beach, grassy pools, etc... I had 11 species in tota. Virginia Key was shut down but at the far entrance (Virginia Beach Dr.) before you head over to Key Biscayne, a wet area had developed in the grass field that held both Yellowlegs, Dowitcher spec., Stilt Sandpipers, Pectoral Sandpipers, and Willet. There were also smaller species that I was too far off to ID. The Fish Crows in the area were trying to pick off the tired shorebirds, very interesting to see. It was torture not to have a scope or access to the park. Hopefully tommorow it will be open. Does anyone know?
