I birded the farm fields on the north side of 9336 west of s.w. 217 ave. and came up with 14-species of shorebirds.
Solitary Sandpiper
Least Sandpiper
Pectoral Sandpiper
UPLAND SANDPIPER
BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPER
Black-bellied Plover
Semipalmated Plover
Greater Yellowlegs
Lesser Yellowlegs
Killdeer
Ruddy Turnstone
Black-necked Stilt
Short-billed Dowitcher
Wilson's Snipe
The lone BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPER was east and south of the first large white tank which is along s.w. 224 ave. on the north side of 9336. I was just about to get a photo of it, when a Northern Harrier spooked the bird when I reached for the camera.
The Annex had at least half a dozen calling Alder Flycatchers, a beautiful Prothonotary Warbler, American Redstart, Ovenbird, Northern Waterthrush and a few Blue-gray Gnatcatchers. There were also Bank, Barn, Cliff Swallow and a few Purple Martins.
Not bad for a couple of hours birding! Let us see what the storm brings in!
